We are delighted to announce that Julie Peasgood, the well-known actress, television presenter, author and voice over artist, has been appointed as the first ever sustainability ambassador for The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down.

Julie first visited The Clink Restaurant in March 2012 and in May 2012 presented us with the Footprint Award for Corporate, Social and Environmental Responsibility. Julie has visited us several times since then and was immediately impressed by the level of service, the quality of cooking and the whole ethos in place, taking a keen interest in the sustainable initiatives in practice within the farms and gardens department and in the restaurant.

Able to offer her support, Julie formulated and launched two limited edition flavours of speciality ice cream, ‘Julie’s delight’ and ‘Ultra Violet’, with £1 being donated to The Clink Charity for every ice cream sold at Gelateria Danieli a boutique ice cream parlour in Richmond, Surrey.

The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down was recognised for its outstanding sustainable practices by the Sustainable Restaurant Association who awarded the restaurant a 3 star award in 2012. Julie’s role will be to support The Clink Restaurant and Charity, raising awareness of our programme which reduces re-offending rates through the running of an eco-friendly, fine dining restaurant that trains prisoners to work within the hospitality industry.
